Editing Articles

The main job of the editor is to edit all articles that are submitted by members.

All articles have to conform to the D_D Code of Conduct.

There are three types of articles.

  1. Member articles
  2. WAGMI-Wednesday articles
  3. Sponsored articles

Members submit articles either because they want to tell the world what they learned, either because they’re passionate about the topic, or because they want to show off their skills to potential employers. That’s why with these articles, writing style is mostly left untouched to decrease the workload on the editor and to preserve the character of the author. An exception can be made if the author explicitly asks for guidance; otherwise, edits are focused on grammar and formatting, but also checking for plagiarism. Depending on the technical expertise of the editor, they can also check if the information an article provides is correct.

For sponsored articles, written by members for D_D partners (who also pay for it), the last step is mandatory and the editor should get help if they can’t perform a correctness check on their own. With sponsored articles, style edits are also permissible to get the best out of the article.

WAGMI-Wednesday articles are about personal stories of D_D members, so the edits are only concerned with grammar and formatting.

Scheduling Tweets

The other job of the editor is to regularly schedule tweets via Buffer.

Top 3 Articles

Every Monday, a tweet is scheduled (for the same day) that mentions the top three articles of the last week, this is determined by article views.

WAGMI-Wednesday

Every Monday, two tweets are scheduled (for Wednesday that week) that mentions a WAGMI-Wednesday article. Either the newest articles written since the last Wednesday, or two of the previous articles in the list. One early in the morning, and one in the evening, to hit different time zones.

New Article

If a new article was published, there will be three tweets scheduled to promote it. One right after the publication, one 7 days later, and one around 30 days later.
